Pick yourself when your partner takes you for granted and makes you feel small and unimportant.

Choose yourself when your friends only call you when they need a favour or because everybody else is busy.

Always choose yourself.

Why? You’ll get your answer by reading the following lines. I hope these words will offer you a new perspective and help you understand that putting yourself first is NOT a selfish thing to do.

In fact, it’s the only way to make the most out of everything the world has to offer and thrive.

Some people will try to project their frustrations or their dreams on you.

Steering your life based on what other people think you should do is only going to make you doubt your self-worth and lead to an emotional imbalance.

You can’t live your life to merely please others. Placing too much value on someone else’s judgments or reactions leaves you vulnerable to manipulation.

It can make you feel like you have to ignore that inner voice and deform your system of beliefs just to get validation from others.

It’s essential to remember that we all have our own lives to live. We are all connected through love, but we all have a unique path and purpose which we are meant to fulfil.

Self-fulfilment is gained through self-worth, so stay true to your authentic self and always choose yourself. Because you are enough.

You Are Responsible for Your Own Happiness, so Always Choose Yourself

It happens all the time: people enter relationships and promise to make each other happy.

And the second something bad happens, they begin to blame each other, and love is replaced by resentment and even hate.

That happens because people forget they can’t depend on others for their own happiness.

Friends, partners, relatives, they all make life more beautiful and more substantial. But they are not responsible for your happiness.

You are. And once you are ready to assume responsibility, your perspective will change. You will learn to selflessly love others, without expecting anything in return.

You will be ready to give and experience pure love. This way, you can enjoy someone’s company and love them with all your heart, but not be afraid of them leaving you.

That is because you’ll know that they don’t have the key to your happiness. This will make you experience a new level of freedom and peace.

Choosing yourself starts with knowing yourself, getting to the raw essence of who you really are at a cellular level.

We can spend an entire life with someone we love and still cannot be 100% sure of what they are thinking or feeling.

5 Types Of People Who Are Constantly Stealing Our Energy

Lots of people I worked with are thoughtful individuals who make considerable efforts to better themselves and apply spiritual values to their everyday lives by focusing only on what they are doing, not on others’ flaws.

But I speak for all of us when I say that, despite this kind of positive efforts, we are still hindered by those stealing our energy. 

How do we manage our interactions with them? How do we react when they become overbearing? How do we maintain a proper attitude towards them on the long term, not just for a month or so?

We’re working on our path towards spiritual betterment.

But most importantly, we’re ever hungry to learn more about how to identify toxic behaviours. In this effort, I am by your side and I am determined to give you some support with that. So, here are 5 energy-stealing types you may encounter throughout your daily journeys.

1. The Intimidating Type

Intimidators rely on threats or threatening attitude to get what they want. And what they want is feeling in charge, be it at the workplace or in relationships.

They get their sense of fulfilment out of exerting power (and stealing energy) over others and often get an inflated impression on their real powers. Just because more passive persons submitted to their requests doesn’t mean they are in a genuine position of power.

2. The Self-Pitiful

Ever complaining about the smallest of happenings coming their way, these people are stealing our energy in a subtle manner. 

By constant complaints, they require our undivided attention which is more demanding on our energy level than we’d think. That’s why we suddenly feel annoyed at this seemingly harmless conduct of others.

Plus, we may even feel guilty for not being able to sympathize with their minor struggles.

3. The Chatty Storytellers

This is another category of people who are thirsty for non-stop attention, but they’re draining your energy more overtly.

They’re loud and you can immediately spot when you’re running out of patience with their approach.

These people cannot spot signals of disinterest coming from their interlocutors.

4. The Naysayers

The problem with them is that they don’t realize they’re putting you down.

They feel their experience entitles them to warn you, make you cautious, point out every single negative aspect, no matter how minor it is.

5. The Control Freaks

Always looking to know everything, these people present an almost pathological tendency to confine themselves and others to very well-defined situations.

And because they’re putting so much thought into every detail, they naturally have the impression they know it all and they should let everyone know that.

These people have the best intentions and often suffer from the backlash of their own perfectionism, but they just don’t realize they require too much energy from the others.

Let’s Be Gracious to People Stealing Our Energy

We have to understand – in a deep, assumed manner – that people listed above have serious energy blockages stopping them from recognizing the effects of their acts.

We may have been like that as well. Maybe we still have such tendencies.

But you’re here because you sensed, to some extent, your star seed nature. And that means you can manage your inner life better. You are actively working towards inner enlightenment and you are able to understand.

So, I say to you:

Keep walking confidently on this path.

Keep inspiring other people to act like you. 

Keep shining and spreading the light you’re carrying within. 

Tell those stealing our energy that they’re better than that. Tell them to join you.

Meditation Is the First Step Towards Understanding Your Mind

If you really take a moment to think about it, the human mind is in itself a universe. A scalable aggregate of starlight and potentialities. And when you add the other two dimensions – soul and spirit – it grows even more inscrutable.

That’s why understanding your mind may seem like a daunting prospect at first. But just like with any other thing which scares us initially, the attempt I’m talking about might be just what you need to unlock the richness of your mental endowment.

When I talk about ‘understanding your mind’, I immediately associate this phrase with a single word – watchfulness.

Being always alert to tackle any kind of external stimulus is one of the best ways to turn yourself into a fully self-aware entity capable of channelling the right energies towards the right pain points.

When you meditate, you get not just your brain, but your whole being to be ready and interpret any happening to your benefit. This way, no experience is left trailing. Meditation basically leaves no room for negativity to catch you off guard.

Control Your Thoughts, Don’t Block Them

I’m going to expand a bit more on this topic of ‘readiness’ because it leads to another aspect which helps when understanding your mind: control.

Being in control does not mean you are obsessed with getting everything your way. It’s rather an art and a hard-worked skill of knowing how to make sense of the world.

For instance, let’s take a strong feeling. Pain. If you don’t practice meditation, you find yourself confronted with a myriad of thoughts you’re not prepared to make sense of. You don’t have the tool to channel them. And then, you lose control and everything seems contradictory.

Whereas with meditation, you are aware of your power and become a better emotional ‘manager’ of understanding your mind and its interactions with other systems and energies. It’s not that the pain disappears or is diminished, but it’s directed towards further growth because you already developed a routine of self-inquiry.

With constant meditation, you are practically igniting the light within to turn discomfort into growth opportunities. In other words, you become your own alchemist of personal change.

Yes, the topic of this article is you, essentially. That said, I have to mention it’s also about how you know to reach out to others – especially when you’re just starting on this road.

What Type of Meditation Works Best for You?

It’s no secret anymore – meditating is a powerful tool you can cultivate within yourself in order to heal and alleviate different kinds of conditions.

Being such an impressive resource, it also means there are several ways it can be approached. You need to discover which particular type of meditation best fits your life and needs.

Generally Speaking…

We can say there are three main ways of approaching meditation:

  1. Focused attention meditation. This is based on a principle of correspondence – you pick an object and focus all your energy on staying connected, while looking at or thinking about it. Your flow of attention can be directed towards your breath, a part or a function of the body, a physical item, a mantra. You can use this approach when you need to exercise your steadiness muscle.
  2. Open meditation. This is a technique which involves recording all signals coming from your surroundings, without attempting to record them in any positive or negative manner. You learn to monitor the content of your experiences, while setting yourself on a non-reactive mood. This state is great if you need to unwind or if there’s something which occupies your mind to a worrying degree.
  3. Effortless watchfulness. This is not a technique per se, but rather a type of meditation wherein you attain complete serenity and calm. In this state, you can experience unabridged quietude and you gain access to deeper states of conscience. The secret mechanism of this state of mind lies in the capacity to let go of the object of focus (see type 1) and the process itself (type 2) and further allow yourself to be the sole presence you are perceiving. You can reach this point only if you have a facilitator watching over your steps, as you grow your introspective capacities.

These three main techniques are presented gradually, the first being practised to a larger extent by beginners, the last catering more to the ones with a more extensive practice. They’re employed in different degrees by various schools or cultures of meditation.

Settle for One Type of Meditation

What I outlined above may well be considered categories or approaches. But, each can serve one type of meditation or another, plus a larger variety of mindfulness techniques, like:

  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Zen meditation
  • Vipassana (also known as ‘mindfulness of meditation’) – use it at the early stages of your practice.
  • Metta (‘compassion’) meditation – to be used when you need to enhance your empath powers.
  • Mantra/OM meditation – also used in the early and intermediary stages.
  • Transcendental meditation – will work best for you if you have a bit of experience and if you are ready to access the deepest layers of perception.
  • Guided meditation – the easiest way to get optimal guidance and customised input, even though you’re a busy person.

Our day-to-day lives are a paradox: most of them are dedicated to work, but we also need to balance everything out with some time for ourselves. But where do we get that time from? There are countless issues we have to deal with – apart from our professional lives.

  • Extending this practice on the way to work and trying to capture any singularity encountered. Soon, hidden patterns will start profiling and prepare your spirit for a shift of perception.
  • Self-talk also helps if it is used as a morning or night routine.

As you can see, there’s no need to seek for a dedicated space in order to accommodate self-healing into your life. But from my experience, I can tell you that your personal space at home is the most viable medium to carry out the healing practices.

Once you’re able to start using self-healing techniques, your home will become an energy hub where the soul and the body can find peace. 

The best way to go forward on your path towards complete healing is to share your newfound serenity with other souls engaged on this journey.
