Common Mistakes You Should Avoid when You Start Meditating

Quitting is the easiest thing in the world.

And I’ve seen this scenario way too often: people face issues in their lives, they think meditation would be a good idea, they start meditating and then, even with the help of a facilitator, start losing patience once results don’t seem to come instantly.

In this string of events, wherein meditation is put on fast-forward, people are driven by a ‘result hunger’ mentality. This is when mistakes start to creep in and mar the whole process. They’ll eventually accumulate and compromise all previous efforts, wearing away your confidence and dimming the light you’ve started to open yourself to.

That’s why I thought I should write a piece for all of you beautiful souls out there who start meditating and need guidance regarding the mistakes you should avoid when starting to reconnect with the Universe.

Not Understanding the True Nature of Meditation

Generally speaking, first-time meditation students tend to view this practice as something which brings them:

  • access to a higher consciousness level
  • increased wellness and peace of mind
  • a raise in vibration.

What most newcomers don’t actually acknowledge is the spiritual dimension of meditation.

Most often than not, perception of the spiritual dimension is mistaken for states like ‘feeling awakened’ or ‘experiencing new levels of sensation’. If you want to really change your life after you start meditating, make sure you intensify your meditation practice and expand your knowledge of what spirituality really implies.

Confinement to a Set of Rules

Another mistake which could determine some to give up after they start meditating is the preconceived notion, there is a strictly defined set of rules which need be abode by.

People think these ‘good practices’ should be effected in a particular order – only then will the soul be able to elevate to higher dimensions.

The thing with these strict guidelines for meditation is they comprise a lot of requirements which could discourage beginners and create useless spiritual burdens. 

As soon as they see they cannot maintain the exact scrupulous practice dictated by these rules, people start questioning the capacity of their souls to reach higher consciousness.

What they often fail to realise is that this capacity to capture and nurture inner light is an innate one. Because we are all beings of light, beings of Universal spirituality, capable to vibe on the wavelength of the originary matrix.

Ranking the Types of Meditation

People love classifying objects and situations. So why would human beings resist the temptation of putting meditation in a box, as well?

It’s comforting to rank and tag. It seems rational and stress-free.

But it’s another mistake I’ve seen many people make after they start meditating. 

We’ve been so disconnected from the true mission, path and nature of our beings, we imagine spiritual awakening as something we can attain in a standardised way.

When, in truth, there aren’t two identical ways spiritual connection with the Universe can be achieved. Each one of us has unique spiritual needs and is able to benefit from them in different ways. Which makes ranking types of meditation rather useless.

How to Start Meditating the Best Way

First, let yourself be guided by what your mind and body are trying to communicate. This way, you’ll understand how your being is vibing to its surroundings, to what it reacts better and during which times of the day are you more prone to contemplative states.

Secondly, don’t be afraid to contact a facilitator who could uncover and instil the spiritual practices you need.

You need all the love and help along the way.

Why Everyone Should Give Meditation a Try

Slowing down to give meditation a try in this age of fast-paced lifestyles and relentless pursuit of action?

Some people would actually raise their eyebrows at this prospect.

And maybe they are the first who should consider taking on meditation.

Ultimately, our core nature – which is that of light – is fuelled by the right balance between two verbs:  being and doing.

Whichever part you’re employing to the detriment of the other, you’re toying with this fine balance and, ultimately, with the quality of your life.

That’s why I’m inviting you to read the following paragraphs, at the end of which I hope you’ll consider the advantages of meditation with new eyes.

You’ll Be More in Sync with Your Inner Rhythm

The human body is made in such a way so as to work on constant loops of activity/inactivity alternations

If activity is predominant, the body gears up to fuel the new needs. But it can’t go on like that forever, so fatigue is bound to settle in – both in the body and inside the mind.

When you give meditation a try, however, you practically learn how to sense the best rhythm you can sustain and how to manage your energy levels throughout the course of a day.

Once you get more spiritual acumen, you’ll raise the vibration of your internal organs and bodily functions and ultimately align both parties to work in synergy.

You’ll perceive this synergy by the way you’ll be waking up in the morning: more energised, more prepared and focused on the day lying ahead. Because you’ll learn to listen to the signals your body provides, you’ll essentially get more resources for:

  • careful planning
  • better segmentation of the day
  • working out
  • reading, studying or self-growth
  • taking on healthy habits.

You’ll Learn to Be More Grateful

The Universe has designed us all as beautiful seeds of light capable of forging their own path.

This fact alone, if acknowledged as such, is enough to provide us with the gratitude we need in order to establish a healthy perspective upon our existential meaning.

Instead, we stay in the shadows of the past, remorse, unnecessary guilt and irrational complexes which draw us back from the path of light and love.

We’d rather complain about what we don’t have than look back and be amazed at the mere wonder of existence.

What we lack is the wisdom of gratefulness. 

Good news is, though, we can get it if we give meditation a try.

Even in the early stages of a meditation practice, we can experience shifts of perspective which make us cast our eyes to the full side of the glass.

It’s because of the fact we get a clearer view of our real purpose. And once you can visualise a certain purpose on a daily basis, you can better assess and be grateful for every gift you possess and for every positive experience you’ve been through.

You’ll Have Better Intuition

Last but not least, meditation connects the being to a superior layer of perceptivity called the Universal vibration.

Every particle of your being will work in complete unison with the Universe, so it’s natural you’ll get more acute senses and more clairvoyance. This will help you take more inspired and accurate decisions for your future.

How to Use Meditation to Heal Your Broken Heart

When we experience profound heartache, it’s hard not to be sucked in and dwell in our misery. After all, it’s a world-shattering occurrence which forces us to completely revisit ideas about self, behaviour or rapport with the others. 

Are you undergoing such a time in your life? Then you’re most certainly involved in an active pursuit to heal your broken heart. 

At this point, I need to point something out: you may be thinking your heart is broken, but I’d like to phrase it another way. Yes, your heart is being put to the test. But it’s a test which ultimately has a purpose: unearthing the unlimited resources of strength you have inside.

Because strength comes from light – and we’re all beings of light.

We’ve been endowed with countless deposits of power and heartache should not stop us from nurturing them. I want to help you heal your broken heart, so I prepared a few words on how meditation will help you do this.

Changing the Narrative

Of all the souls I’ve helped heal throughout time, the overwhelming majority had the hardest time with detaching from the subjective perspective they had had upon the failed relationship. 

It was hard for them to objectively assess the whole dynamic leading to the breakup. They were caught in the same narrative of self-absorption.

Once they took on meditation and practised it extensively, however, they were able to change that narrative.

How did they manage that (and can you heal your broken heart by following in their steps)?

They applied the technique of visualisation, which consists of a few stages:

  1. Finding a quiet spot which also helps one focus and channel inner thoughts.
  2. Imagining the former partner is sitting right across the room.
  3. Making contact with the virtual presence of them.
  4. Visualising this meeting as a ball of energy.

The more one repeats these steps and reaches the last one consistently, the faster acceptance and peace of mind will come.

Meditation Will Heal Your Broken Heart by Clearing up All Negativity

Heartaches take a lot of time to heal because most people have a hard time letting go. That’s because they don’t realise they cultivate a lot of negativity and dwelling in the past. 

Meditation is the best solution to this vicious cycle.

Why?

Because it helps people treat the root cause of the problem – unhealed scars and negativity which have been amassed throughout time.

In a relationship which falls apart, negativity is a key contributor because it misaligns the energies of the two people. This slowly erodes the couple’s interaction to the point where they don’t make any effort anymore. Or they can’t even see what brought them together in the first place.

And all this baggage of big and small mistakes tarnishes not only the relationship itself, but the post-relationship time. Because your soul has got used to the weight and takes it as the norm.
